Martha Cream Cheese: A very special day!

Featuring colourful illustrations from Alberta-based artist Chloe Greer, Martha Cream Cheese tells the story of Martha who is setting up for her birthday party and having to problem-solve as small problems arise. The story features colours and onomatopoeias that early learners will find engaging, particularly if used as part of a classroom storytime. This work also includes a list of questions at the end of the book that could be used to prompt deeper engagement with the emotions of the character and think critically about cause and effect. These questions are developed with educators in mind by the author Charolette Player and are informed by her over forty years of experience as an elementary school educator and principal in Alberta. Some of the prompts even include drawing exercises, so this work could be connected with early art lesson plans as well.
