The Response of Weeds: A Misplacement of Black Poetry on the Prairies

The Response of Weeds is a collection of poetry that captures the spirit and environment of Alberta, while highlighting the Black experience and Black historical figures. Many of the poems are less than a page long, which makes them perfect for use in lessons or to introduce poetry to learners. A list of the historical figures mentioned throughout the book is included at the start, which can be used to inspire discussion from a social studies perspective.
